Prestwold Hall, Leicestershire for Sam and Marcus Gale

Lovely venue, lovely couple, lovely day!

Last Saturday we performed at the lovely Prestwold Hall in Leicestershire for Sam and Marcus and we had a really great time!

A stunning venue

Having performed at Prestwold Hall before, it is a venue that we are now very familiar with and a venue that we always look forward to performing at. We always find the staff to be professional and friendly, the food is of the highest standard and the venue and grounds, with so many wonderful views and stunning features, are to die for!

A Special Request from the FOTB

Adam was kindly asked by Sam and Marcus if he could perform one of the most requested songs ever, Elton John's classic,'Your Song.' It was, however, their second dance that got most of the guests talking: a surprise request from the father of the bride to his daughter and son-in-law, Heartland's 'I Loved Her First.' A very emotional and heartfelt song and, I must be honest, whilst Adam was learning the song it really hit me too... a really beautiful song.

They say...

Prestwold Hall and its stunning gardens provide the perfect venue for civil weddings and wedding receptions. The Hall is available for exclusive use only, which ensures that your day is truly unique and memorable.

Up to 175 guests can be accommodated for a wedding breakfast with excellent menus and a fantastic wine list tailored to your individual needs.

Prestwold Hall is registered to hold civil ceremonies in the library for up to 150 guests. There is a Church of England church within the Prestwold Estate where it is often possible to hold a wedding ceremony.

A chauffeur-driven Bentley is available for use on your wedding day.

PC Vanilla Ice?

They say that you're only as good as your audience and that could definitely be said of the lively bunch that we performed to on Saturday! We had a real mix of young and old and this made for a diverse evening of musical tastes, with a special appearance by a guy named Gareth (real name Steve!? Don't ask!!) as Vanilla Ice! It was like the Ice Man himself was actually in the room with us, he was that good! I dread to think how many hours went into actually learning the song in the first place! :)

The worst thing about Gareth is that, Adam spent the entire evening watching him and hoping that he didn't do anything serious for a living: it actually turns out that he's a police officer!! From this day forth I won't have it said that police officers are boring!!

Swing & Soul Wedding Singer

For their Wedding Entertainment the new Mr and Mrs Gale booked Adam to perform his Swing & Soul Solo Show and also chose to include the Wedding Disco too.

Adam performed all of his usual crowd pleasing favourites including 'Haven't Met You Yet,' 'Save The Last Dance,' 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' and Michael Buble's 'Everything' as the bride and groom's second dance with the remainder of the wedding party. Swing and Big Band first half over - phew!

Act Two got the party into full swing as Adam kept them all going with a blend of Soul, Indie and Pop tracks such as 'My Girl,' 'This Love, and ' 'Mercy'. Adam also added some new-ish tracks this week: Cee-Lo Green's 'Forget You' and his Old Pop Medley Mix containing Maroon 5's 'This Love,' Gnarls Barkley's 'Crazy' and Adam's very unique version of Katy Perry's 'I Kissed A Girl.' They all proved to be brilliant floor fillers! :)  *these tracks will be released on a new Soul & Pop album coming very soon!*

Hodsock Priory for Laura & Jonathan

A lovely day was had by all...

On Sunday we performed at the very lovely Hodsock Priory, near Worksop in Nottinghamshire for Laura and Jonathan Bullars... and what a lovely day we all had too.

We first met the lovely and bubbly Laura (along with her entourage! :)) at the Leicester Tigers Wedding Fair after a recommendation from one of our previous couples had proven enough to convince Laura that she should see a live performance by Adam. She travelled down to Leicester to see him perform and to see if she thought he could become a part of her wedding plans. Thankfully, she loved him!

The Day Itself

After arriving at the venue we realised that Laura and Jonathan had thought through every single meticulous detail and everything looked simply stunning: from the flowers to the cake, the dress to the venue itself - beautiful!

Hodsock Priory is a lovely, traditional country house and it has a real contemporary feel to the place following its renovation last summer. The house has been lovingly restored by its owner and current tenant, George Buchanan. George's family have owned the property and wonderful grounds since 1765 (Wow wee!) and he has created a magical venue which incorporates the past and present quite beautifully.

Laura and Jonathan's choreographed first dance was to Jamie Cullum's version of 'What A Diff'rence A Day Makes' and their request list was very diverse and fun (although a little heavy on Take That! - we got the feeling that Laura was a massive Take That-ite!) This video is just for you Laura:

"Adam Thomas to the stage..."

The new Mr and Mrs Bullars booked Adam to perform his Solo Show for their Wedding Entertainment and they opted to include our Wedding Disco too.

Adam performed all of his usual crowd pleasing favourites including 'Haven't Met You Yet,' 'That's Amore,' 'Ain't That A Kick In The Head' and Michael Buble's 'Everything' as the bride and groom's second dance with the remainder of the wedding party. Swing and Big Band first half over - phew!

Act Two got the party into full swing as Adam kept them all going with a blend of Soul and Pop tracks such as 'Everybody Needs Somebody,' 'All Night Long,' and 'Valerie.' As we've said before, Adam's renditions of Paolo Nutini's 'Pencil Full Of Lead' and '10/10' have really proven to be massive hits with all of his audiences this summer: they fill the dance floor every time!

Bang Bang Bang?

Now, most Father's of the Bride (or FOTB's as you planning brides call them!) request a lot of ACDC, Queen, some Robbie and maybe even a little Erasure... but Mark Ronson's 'Bang Bang Bang'!! Really?? And knowing all of the words too? Well, Laura's Dad did and it happens to be his favourite song too!! There's nothing wrong with that of course... it's just a little out of the norm that's all! We applaud him in fact! ;)

They Say...

Hodsock Priory is our family home (and has been since 1765). We’ve spent the past year lovingly renovating the house and we now have a sensational new entertaining space available to hire for private events.

Whether it’s an intimate dinner for 6, a wedding for 120 or a great big bash for 500, we welcome you. Our background in hospitality, entertainment, food and wine means we are well placed to host Weddings, Family Gatherings, Anniversaries, Birthday Parties, Corporate Functions and Special Events.

From the minute you sweep through the archway of the Tudor Gatehouse, you will have this peaceful, secluded corner of England to yourselves. You are free to entertain your guests in an informal environment where everyone will relax. Children can run around. The party can spill outside. We invite you to bring Hodsock to life.

Chesford Grange for Becky & Chet Patel

An extraordinary wedding!

On Saturday I had the pleasure of performing at the very lovely Chesford Grange in Warwickshire for Becky and Chet Patel... at only my second Indian/English Wedding ever... and I loved it!

Becky and Chet created an extraordinary wedding by having two ceremonies! That's right, two! The first was a traditional, English wedding with Becky wearing a beautiful white wedding gown and Chet and his boys in very stylish grey suits.

After a short break, a sea of vibrant colours started to fill the corridors as the guests made their way to the second ceremony: a traditional Hindu wedding complete with a truly stunning Mandap and traditional decorations. It looked magical.

I can't really describe how lovely everyone looked in their different attires but it was, on the whole, a wonderful way to incorporate both cultures and traditional services into one truly magical wedding.

"Adam Thomas to the stage..."

The new Mr and Mrs Patel booked Adam to perform his Solo Show for their Wedding Entertainment after seeing him perform live at the Ansty Hall Wedding Fair. They chose to include a Wedding Disco and an additional hour to take the disco right up to 1am.

Adam performed all of his usual crowd pleasing favourites including 'Save The Last Dance,' 'Meglia Stasera (It Had Better Be Tonight)' and Michael Buble's 'Everything' as the bride and groom's second dance with the remainder of the wedding party. And that was only the Swing and Big Band first half!

Act Two was where the party really started though! The crowd were a really lively bunch, never leaving the dance floor as Adam kept them going with a blend of Soul and Pop tracks like 'Soul Man,' 'My Girl,' and 'Valerie.' Adam's renditions of Paolo Nutini's 'Pencil Full Of Lead' and '10/10' have really proven to be massive hits with all of his audiences this summer though: they fill the dance floor every time!

Disco Time... with a twist!

The disco started at around 10.30pm with the usual crowd pleasers, but it was the absolutely massive Indian anthem 'Mundian to Bach Ke' by Punjabi MC that really stole the show for both Indian and English guests! The song is one of the biggest Indian mainstream hits of all time and is mainly popular with English audiences due to its sample of the Knight Rider theme tune. Should you wish to join in or perhaps, like me, you're curious about what the lyrics actually mean, here are the lyrics and the translation too.
